Celebrating Highways Awards shortlist success

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in not one, not two, but three categories at this year’s Highways Awards !

Our work with National Highways and WSP to deliver the reinstatement of 10 miles of the A47 Acle Straight in Norfolk has been shortlisted in the Small Project of the Year (Under £10 million) category. Working collaboratively, we replaced the original specification with a lower carbon option using evoBuild foamed asphalt which allowed the road planings to be processed and recycled back into the new road.  

We have also been shortlisted for the Highways Partnership of the Year award along with National Highways, Autolink Concessionaires (A19) Ltd and Sir Robert McAlpine for the A19 Design, Build Finance, Operate (DBFO) contract.

All partners embraced the principles of a one team approach to collaborative working on this 30-year contract to improve and maintain over 120km of dual carriageway between Dishforth and the Tyne Tunnel.

And, Apprentice Quantity Surveyor Natasha Malloy has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category, testament to the amazing contribution she has made to our business since joining the company two years ago.

Natasha is the first female in this role and has actively encouraged more young females to consider careers in the sector, representing the company through extensive outreach after training as a STEM ambassador.

Another project that we delivered as part of our term maintenance contract with Somerset Council has also been shortlisted in both the Small Project of the Year (Under £10 million) and Steve Berry Highways Authority Innovation Award categories.

The M5 Junction 26 Chelston Link Project in Wellington was a complex scheme to replace a rapidly deteriorating concrete road and involved carriageway reconstruction and included a number of lower carbon techniques to minimise its environmental impact.

We are now keeping everything crossed for the awards ceremony which is taking place in London on 23 September. Good luck everyone!
