Lest we forget – remembering the fallen

This Armistice Day, colleagues across our business came together in remembrance of those who served and sacrificed their lives in times of war.

We held wreath-laying services at our Chipping Sodbury and Syston offices, and a two-minute silence was observed across the business as part of our ongoing dedication to honouring and supporting our Armed Forces.

Many of our company owned cement and concrete trucks also display a poppy in recognition and remembrance of those who serve, and our poppy is once again lighting up the night sky at our Batts Combe quarry in Somerset.

Earlier this year, we were awarded Gold in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) in recognition of our dedication to being a forces-friendly employer, and a fair, respectful and inclusive company.

This follows our re-signing of the Armed Forces Covenant, which formalised our commitment to veterans and reservists and recognises the range of transferable skills former service personnel contribute to our business.

We have a number of employees who are members of the Army Reserves, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and Royal Naval Reserve, and continue to support them by giving them time off work for their required training throughout the year.
