Podcast series kicks off with a look at volunteering with Chapter One
We have launched a new series of Let’s Talk podcasts which focus on our 2030 sustainability commitments.
The first episode, Let’s Talk Volunteering with Chapter One, looks at our volunteering programme with the literacy charity, which is dedicated to ensuring every child develops the literacy skills to succeed.
Hosted by our Social Value and FAIR Co-ordinator Jops Dann, the podcast discusses the importance of the programme with Anna Ansted, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Chapter One, and our Senior Sustainability Director Stewart Jones and District Operations Manager Mark Roberts, who volunteer their time to the scheme.
When we first got involved with the programme, nine people across the business volunteered to take part, using their paid day a year Heidelberg Materials offers its employees to support charities and local initiatives.
We now have 60 volunteers who provide one-to-one reading support, 30-minutes a week, for children aged 5-7 who need it most.
In the 45-minute podcast you will hear how rewarding the team has found helping young readers to build their confidence.
